Understanding Bank Statement Formats
Bank statement files come in several formats. OFX (Open Financial Exchange) is the industry standard for exchanging financial data. QFX is Quicken's implementation, and QBO is used by QuickBooks. All three use the same underlying XML structure, making them interchangeable for conversion purposes.
PDF bank statements require a different approach — our tools use optical character recognition and text extraction to parse transaction data from the visual layout of PDF statements from major banks including Chase, Wells Fargo, and Bank of America.
Why Convert Bank Statements to CSV?
CSV files open natively in Excel, Google Sheets, and most accounting software. Converting your bank statements to CSV lets you analyze spending, create budgets, prepare tax documents, and import transactions into QuickBooks, Quicken, or GnuCash.
